Traditions of Deerfield Retirement & Assisted Living Facility in Loveland, Ohio recently celebrated their resident, Florence “Flo” Hackman, on a remarkable occasion - her 105th birthday. This was no ordinary celebration as Fireball Whisky took center stage in a surprise tribute to the centenarian’s unwavering love for the cinnamon-infused spirit. Surrounded by over 100 of her favorite whisky shooters, her birthday bash became an unforgettable affair.
Born on December 16, 1918, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Flo has witnessed the passage of time through two World Wars, two pandemics, the moon landing, and countless other historical events. Despite life’s challenges, she remains an epitome of joy and resilience. Formerly employed at the Union Central Life Insurance Company, she transitioned into the role of a homemaker after marrying her late husband, Joe Hackman, in 1940. The devoted couple celebrated 71 years of marriage before Joe’s passing in 2011.
Flo’s 105th birthday celebration was a spectacle to behold, she was dressed in a sequined top, a sparkling red birthday sash, a crown adorned with red jewels, hot pink nails, and was the life of the party. Her three favorite things took center stage; whiskey, firefighters, and her beloved Cincinnati Bengals.
Fireball Cinnamon Whisky, having heard about Flo’s daily indulgence in their signature drink, decided to make her big day even more special by sending 105 complimentary shooters, ensuring that her celebration mirrored her age. Flo did share her wisdom on living a long, healthy, and happy life. Her advice included staying positive, finding the good in people, and embracing what one has. With a contagious spirit of optimism, she emphasized the importance of not being crabby and taking care of oneself as her enduring love for life serves as an inspiration to those around her.
Family, including her son Rick and daughter Joanne, sponsored the celebration ensuring that it was a day filled with joy and laughter. With four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, Flo’s legacy is deeply woven into the fabric of her family’s history. A devoted Bengals fan, she followed the team’s victory over the Minnesota Vikings with enthusiasm, expressing her hopes for their continued success.
