Yang Binglin, an 88-year-old gamer from Sichuan province, China, affectionately known as “Gamer Grandpa,” has secured a prestigious Guinness World Record for being the oldest video game content creator on Bilibili. The news broke through Jimu News, a reputable news portal based in Hubei province.
A former oil and gas drilling research and engineering professional, Yang Binglin embarked on his journey into the world of video game vlogging on Bilibili four years ago. His infectious enthusiasm for gaming and commitment to sharing his experiences have garnered him a dedicated following of over 280,000 fans on the platform.
The octogenarian, fondly called “Gamer Grandpa,” has transitioned from smaller games to more complex titles such as Tomb Raider and Call of Duty, and his gaming collection boasts over 500 games.
In a recent interview, Yang expressed the honor he feels as a vlogger and the joy he finds in connecting with his thousands of young fans. He graciously acknowledged the heartfelt gift of a PS5, the latest game console, from his followers.
