Miloš Křeček, a dedicated LEGO enthusiast from the Czech Republic, has transformed his childhood passion into a Guinness World Record and opening a museum spanning four locations. Guinness World Records verified that Křeček had amassed an extraordinary collection of 6,005 diverse LEGO sets, leading to the establishment of the Museum of Bricks.

Křeček’s LEGO journey began at the age of five when he received his first LEGO set as a Christmas gift. Over the years, his collection grew exponentially, prompting him to open the first Museum of Bricks in Prague. Now, the museum proudly stands with additional branches in Kutná Hora, Poděbrady, and Špindlerův Mlýn. The museums display his collection and it adds approximately 300 model sets per year, including the latest releases, as well as rare and collectible items.

When asked about the time invested in building his LEGO sets, Křeček estimated that it has taken over 20,000 hours. His all-time favorite set, the Statue of Liberty, was acquired during a sightseeing boat tour when visiting New York. The set that was the most difficult, was a Star Wars AT-AT model, with over 6,700 pieces, and the one that took the longest was an Eiffel Tower kit with over 10,000 pieces. While the majority of his extensive collection, currently totaling 6,751 original sets, he purchased himself, he has received many from customers and acquaintances.

The financial worth of Křeček’s collection is deemed “incalculable,” with some sets reaching astronomical prices in the tens of millions of Czech Koruna. Notable examples include the LEGO Cloud City from Star Wars, valued at over 250,000 CZK (approximately $11,527), and the sought-after mini-figure of Mr. Gold, whose price increases by approximately 30% annually, with a current purchase price exceeding 85,000 CZK (approximately $3,923.)
