Wisconsin Bar Attempts to Set Guinness World Record with Massive Old-Fashioned Cocktail Flight

A bar in Wisconsin has is hoping to create a new world record category for the largest old-fashioned flight. The bar, 313 Dodge in Kaukauna, assembled 100 old-fashioned cocktails on a 24-ft-long wooden board. The attempt was organized in partnership with Venture Wisconsin.

In a spirited endeavor to make a splash in the world of mixology, 313 Dodge, a lively bar nestled in Kaukauna, Wisconsin, recently took on the ambitious challenge of assembling 100 Old-Fashioned cocktails into a flight on a handcrafted wooden board. The event, organized in collaboration with marketing platform Venture Wisconsin, unfolded on the bar’s patio, where a 24-foot-long flight board played host to this record-breaking attempt.

Known for its prowess in serving Old-Fashioned flights, 313 Dodge’s attempt to set a new world record showcased their commitment to mixology innovation. Each of the 100 drinks featured in the flight was meticulously hand-muddled by the talented team of bartenders, adding a personal touch to this daring feat.

Evan Freimuth, the founder of Venture Wisconsin and one of the creative minds behind the record attempt, shared the origin of the idea that sparked this ambitious endeavor. “There’s no known category for the world’s largest beverage flight,” Freimuth explained. “We went to page 300 of Google, couldn’t find anything.” Undeterred by the lack of precedent, the team forged ahead, determined to etch their names in the Guinness World Records by creating a new category for the largest beverage flight.

The Old-Fashioned, the star of this record-breaking show, is a cocktail steeped in history and tradition. Originating in the early 19th century, the Old-Fashioned is a simple yet elegant concoction made by muddling sugar with bitters and water, adding whiskey, and garnishing with an orange slice or zest and a cocktail cherry. It is traditionally served with ice in an old-fashioned glass. Its timeless appeal lies in its ability to showcase the essence of quality spirits, making it a beloved classic in the world of cocktails. With evidence from the attempt set to be submitted to Guinness World Records, the team at 313 Dodge and Venture Wisconsin hopes to toast to not only a successful record but also to the creativity and camaraderie that brought this spirited idea to life.
